Murdeshwar temple celebrates 'Maharathotsava Jaatre'; MLA Sunil Naik, former MLA Mankal Vaidya attend the religious event

Bhatkal 21 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Thousands of devotees from various parts of the state took part in the annual celebration of Maharathotsava of Murdeshwar temple here on Sunday. On Sunday morning thousands of Devotees queued up near the Murdeshwar temple and offered prayers to lord Shiva on the occasion of Maharathotsava also known as 'Jaatre' locally. In the evening, Shripad Kamat after offering the prayers to lord Shiva, pulled and led the chariot (Maharatha) amidst slogans hailing lord Shiva being chanted by the devotees. Hundreds of stalls, selling sweets, toys, clothes, ornaments and other products were installed in and around the temple to attract the devotees and tourists. Heavy security arrangements were made under the supervision of Bhatkal Dy.SP Valentine D'Souza and Bhatkal CPI KL Ganesh to avoid untoward incidents. MLA Sunil Naik, Ex-MLA Mankal Vaidya, JP President Jayashree Moger, Taluk Panchayat president Eshwar Naik and heads of various association were also seen at the temple on this occasion.
