Municipality raids construction sites in Bhatkal, seizes material from illegal sites

Bhatkal 7 July 2018:  The officials of Town Municipality Council (TMC) on Friday seized building materials including concrete stones and lintels while raiding an unauthorized building at 2nd cross of Bunder road here on July 6. The Municipal officials on Friday raided the apartment belonging to Raju Shet after receiving complaints from residents of Bunder road 2nd cross, citing his construction was blocking the way for the rain water to flow. Earlier, the Municipality had also issued notice to Raju regarding the issue and had asked him to construct a sewage for the easy flow of rain water. Yet, the owner of the apartment ignored the notice and continued his construction. However, as heavy rain lashed Bhatkal on Friday the water became stagnant at some of the houses at Bunder road as a result of the blockage in sewage due to the construction materials of Raju. And as soon as the TMC officials were alerted by the residents a team led by TMC Chief Officer Venkatesh Navuda, Sojiya Suman, Ajay Bandari Engineer Umesh Madival along with their subordinates raided the place and seized construction materials including Lintel, concrete stones which had blocked the drainage system. The Municipality has also booked Raju for causing damaged to public health and breathe while action over constructing the building over unauthorized space will also be taken, officials added.
