Mundgod: Teak wood worth 2.5 lac stored in a house busted by forest officials

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Fristen Dias Mundgod 06 April 2018: Katur forest department on Thursday seized illegal teak woods (sagwan) worth Rs.2.5 lac stocked in a house located at Naganuru region of Mundagod here. The accused held in this connection are identified as Girish Mahateshwarappa and Dawalasab Kariyamsab Muzawar of Naguru region of Mundgod. While the main accused Kumar Hanumantappa is reportedly absconding. "Working on a credible information about the cutting of two teak trees at 1.7 cubic meter length that was stored in a house at Naganuru Forest region, the forest department officials on Thursday conducted a raid and seized teak wood worth Rs.2.5 lac and arrested two accused in this connection. However, the main accused escaped from the spot" the forest officials confirmed. The raid team was led by Kaatur Forest department RFO K Mahesh, while forester Nagaraj Kalal, Tammana Bhajamtri, Ashok, Irfan, Rajeshaab, Nagaraj, And Govinda were also present during the raid.
