Mundgod: Depressed over demotion, Deputy Tahsildar commits suicide

Mundgod 03 May 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A Deputy Tashidar depressed over his demotion, committed suicide at Pala Village of Mundagd Taluk here on Thursday. The deceased victim has been identified as Jagdish Chalavadi. Sources say that Jagadish was working as a revenue inspector earlier in Mundagod and later got transferred to Banavasi as Deputy Tashildar of the same District. But in a recent order of Supreme Court of India, seniority in promotion for SC/ST employees were strike down and over 20,000 Government employees belonging to this category were demoted in the month of March for the implementation of the order. However, Jagadish was also one among the demoted employees who came under this bracket. Jagadish allegedly felt insulted by his demotion as village accountant and was depressed before taking the extreme step of ending his life. Jagadish allegedly hanged himself at his home with the saree of his life on Thursday. A case has been registered at Mundgod Police Station. (Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Fristen Dias)
