Dubai - 23 Dec 2011: Moulana Mahmood Madani, an MP from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, visited the Bhatkalli community in Dubai to discuss issues of mutual interest. A dinner reception was hosted in his honour by S.M. Syed Khalil.
Lamenting the lack of political leadership in Bhatkal and the larger Muslim society, Madani said, "Muslims as a community cannot make long-term decisions and we are not creating leaders. Our decisions are based on emotions and not on ground reality." He added, "Bhatkal has to deal with the media-bias by joining hands with human right activists and objective people who can associate with the communal targeting." Also speaking at the reception was Dr Manazir Ahsan, Director General of the UK Islamic Foundation who shared his thoughts on the growing participation of Muslims in UK politics. He said, "The Muslim community in UK is safe, sound and engaged in a dialogue of development through active participation in politics. There are now 7 or 8 members of parliament and the council elections have seen a lot of Muslim counsellors come to power in cities." Earlier, Syed Khalil welcomed the guests at his residence and introduced the role played by Moulana Madani in developing a political change.Bhatkallys News Service / Muaz Shabandri
