02:10PM Fri 20 Oct, 2017
Brigadier Saif Zir Al Shamsi said a total of 5,300,000 traffic black points of 670,000 drivers were cancelled by Sharjah Police hours after the traffic fine announcement.
Brigadier Al Ziri said the cancellation was made before 12 midnight on Wednesday, October 18. He said motorists will benefit from reductions on traffic fines until December 31, 2017.
Owners of vehicles and motorists, who have accumulated speeding fines, can now avail 50 per cent discount in Sharjah if they decide to settle them before the end of December 2017.
All traffic fines accumulated until October 18 will be covered by the discount offer.
The gesture was part of Sharjah Police's golden jubilee celebrations.
The implementation of the discounts will begin on Thursday, October 19.
All traffic fines and black points accumulated until October 18 will be covered, Brigadier Al Shamsi said.
The offer ends on December 31.
He said the initiative will enhance public safety as motorists will realise the value of not violating traffic rules.
Payments can be made through Ministry of Interior app.
Those who have traffic black points, however, should approach the police department, the official said.
