Moger community with over 10,000 people march through Bhatkal streets to protest against District Administration

Bhatkal 13 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) About 10,000 people of Moger community on Monday turned up to stage their protest and took out a rally from Venkatapur to Tahsildar office near old bus stand, against Social Welfare Department and District Administration for not listing the community in the Schedule Cast (SC) category and Sindutva Certificate. Speaking to the media during the protest the President of the ‘Moger Samaj’ KM Karki said “Taking into the consideration the Supreme Court’s order, the High court had directed the state Government to provide Schedule Cast (SC) certificate and Sindutva Certificate to the ‘Moger community’ of the district, But the Social welfare Department and the officials of District administrations went against the orders and categorized us in Backward classes and not Scheduled Caste which is not acceptable." He then Submitted the memorandum addressing the Chief Minister of Karnataka to Tahsildar V.N Bhadkar regarding the issue and urged the CM to categorize the community under Schedule Caste (SC) and provide Sindutva Certificate. The Samaj’s other heads including Nagappa Moger, Ram Moger, Bhaskar, college students, youths, and thousand others were present during the peaceful rally.
