Modi's 'dil maange more only for PM's chair’: Sonia

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Sunday accused BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of allegedly using the name of Kargil martyr Captain Vikram Batra to grab the PM’s chair and termed it as an insult to the brave soldiers, besides an attack on the fundamental values of Indian democracy. Criticising Modi, Sonia said in Kullu that he used Batra’s catchword ‘Yeh dil maange more (this heart wants more)’ only for “the prime minister’s chair”. While addressing rallies in Himachal Pradesh last week, Modi had spoken of the late Captain, who was killed in the Kargil conflict, and used a catchphrase associated with him “Yeh dil maange more” to seek 300 seats for his party. Batra hailed from Palampur and his mother, Kamal Kanta Batra, is contesting from Hamirpur on the AAP ticket. Addressing a rally at Kullu’s Dhalpur maidan — Himachal will vote on Wednesday — Sonia said: “Abhi kuch roj pehle BJP ke Gujarat ke mukhya mantri aap ko kuch bata ke gaye hain, unka dil kya maang raha hai? Unka dil sirf kursi maang raha hai. Yeh un veer shaheedon ka apman hai (A few days ago, BJP’s Gujarat CM told you here in Himachal Pradesh what his heart was asking for? His heart is only asking for the chair. It’s an insult to the brave martyrs)”. “It is against the country’s fundamental values to involve names of great martyrs in politics.
