Missing Muslim youth Abdul Gafoor returns home

Bhatkallys News Bureau Honavar 13 Dec 2017: Abdul Gafoor, a resident of Sirsi who went missing from Honavar when the truck in which he was travelling was hijacked by the rioters who also attacked him, has returned home on Tuesday. According to his brother Suhail Sunti, Abdul has a few injuries on his bodies as he was attacked several times while trying to escape, he further said, one of the Brahmin family helped his brother by giving him refuge at their home premises and also helping him with food and water. Abdul Gafoor also recorded his statement to the police department in which he explained in details that what has happened with him over the course of three days. According to the statement, Abdul along with three of his friends was returning back from Honavar on their sand laden truck when the truck was hijacked by the rioters. His friends somehow escaped the scene but Abdul could not. Later Abdul was successful in escaping and took refuge in a forest before the mob once again attempting to kill him there. He was then rescued by the locals, who dispersed the mob but didn’t offer help to Abdul fearing the police case and procedures. Abdul survived for three days with injuries and finally on Tuesday a couple who was waiting for the bus helped him to contact his family over phone after which a police team reached the spot and rescued Abdul. He was then shifted to the Government hospital for treatment.
