Miscreants damaged wooden statues in Belkhand on Sagar Road

Bhatkal - 06 Feb 2012: Some unidentified miscreants tried to spoil the peaceful atmosphere of Bhatkal town by pulling down four Jatka Statues here at Belkhand village on Sagar Road. Yesterday when devotees visited for Pooja noticed this and informed the police. Meanwhile large number of people gathered after the news of this incident was spread and demanded action against the miscreants. But timely intervention by the police department and religious leaders controlled the situation. Speaking to reporters, Bhatkal DySP, Mr M Narayan said, 'It is a handiwork of some miscreants who want to spoil the peace, so blaming particular community is not correct. We are not registering any case in this regard.' He added.
