A stalemate appears to have already gripped the 10-day legislature session scheduled to begin in Belagavi from November 13, with the principal Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party urging Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to seek the resignation of Bengaluru City Development Minister K.J. George before the session commences. If the government does not heed to its demand, the BJP has decided to fight for his resignation, both inside and outside the legislature Houses, hinting that the session may get stalled. The decision to demand the Minister’s resignation — in the wake of the Central Bureau of Investigation registering an FIR against him in the Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy suicide case — was taken at a meeting of the BJP’s core committee in Mangaluru on Thursday. Briefing reporters after the meeting, BJP State general secretary Arvind Limbavali said the party would seek Mr. George’s resignation from day one of the winter session. “The committee has decided that the Chief Minister should seek the resignation of the Minister immediately for allowing smooth conduct of the legislature proceedings,” he said. Mr. Limbavali said the party’s candidates for next year’s election to the Legislative Council from teachers and graduates constituencies were yet to be finalised. He said the committee has decided that more Dalit and OBC members should be enrolled into the party in the ongoing membership drive. In each booth, 20 additional Dalit and OBC members should be added, he said. Meanwhile, Mr. Limbavali maintained in a rejoinder that the party, during its meetings on Wednesday, had not discussed anything related to the fiasco at the rally organised in Bengaluru on November 2 to mark the launch of Parivarthana Yatra.
