New Delhi: Mild tremors were felt in New Delhi and the National Capital Region for nearly a minute this evening, triggering panic as people living in high-rises rushed out of the buildings. No immediate loss of life and property were reported from anywhere in the city. The tremors came shortly after an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter Scale struck about 200 kilometres off Japan's coast in the Pacific Ocean. In Tokyo, buildings shook for around a minute and set off car alarms. The earthquake was reportedly at a depth of 696 kilometres. No tsunami warning was immediately issued. NDTV
