Mehran, Gujranwala, Bhatkal supreme in BSF T-20 league

RIYADH (Arab News): Mehran, Gujranwala and Bhatkal emerged champions in the BSF Twenty20 cricket tournament organized by Riyadh Cricket League and played at the RCL cricket complex, Al-Kharj Road.
In the Super Cup final Mehran got the better of NAB by 24 runs, in the Premier League — I Gujranwala routed Riyadh Blues by 7 wickets and in the Premier League — II Bhaktal scored a comfortable 74-run win over Riyadh Sports Club.
However, the high-light of the day was a century by Usman Ashraf of Gujranwala, fine batting display by Alam Khan, Dastageer and Sameer followed by fine all-round performances by Majid Khan and Madani.
In the Super Cup final, Mehran batted first and set their rivals a target of 217. This was possible after Majid Khan and Anwar gave their team a flying start with an 80-run partnership.
This was followed up by Anwar (43), Majid (26), Alam Khan (52) and Habib (44).
Imran, Nazir, Basharat and Mudassir took 2 wickets each.
In reply NAB failed to achieve the target and were bowled out for 192 runs. Their in-form batsmen failed to fire and were out for low scores.
Imran ( 37), Abbas (29), Imran Ashraf (25) and Nazir Ahmed (27) were the main run-getters. Majid Khan bagged 3 wickets while Fakhar and Usman took 2 wickets each.

Earlier in the Premier League — I, Riyadh Blues made first use of the track but failed to take advantage as they managed 177 runs in their allotted overs. Zafar (33) and Shahbaz (24) were the only ones who put up some resistance.
Umer impressed and did most of the damage as he bagged 4 wickets. Ashraf and Umar Butt shared 4 wickets.
In reply Gujranwala achieved the target in 18 overs. Thanks to the inform Usman Ashraf who scored a splendid 118, which included 16 hits to the boundary. He was supported by Dastageer’s 56. Farhan took 2 wickets..

In another final, Bhatkal Warriors put on board 204 runs. Mehboob and Madani opened the innings and gave a good start of 70 runs.
Mehboob (25) and Madani (44), Sameer (56), Saad (36) were the others who contributed to the total. Mansoor, Shahnawaz, Nasif and Zikriya of Riyadh Sports Club took 1 wicket each.
In reply Riyadh Sports Club were bowled out for 130 runs. Their batting line-up collapsed and at one stage were 42 for 4. Shahnawaz (42) was the lone batsman who tried to stage a fightbck.
Madani took 3 wickets. Safwan and Tahoor gave him good support and bagged 2 wickets each.

The prize distribution ceremony will be held after Ramadan in the presence of Prince Sultan bin Naser according to Jawaid Munawar, senior vice-president of RCL. Patron, Jawad Khalifa thanked the captains and managers of all the teams for being supportive and for the discipline shown during the season. President, Mamoor Elahi mentioned that the new season will have bigger events and will set a fine platform for all the RCL clubs to participate.
