Meet the Bhatkal man, who is officially the best pigeon breeder of India

Bhatkal 31 October 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A Bhatkal man named Afzal Kashimji, is a very much reputed name in the circles of pigeon breeders across the country has been awarded 'best pegion breeder of India' for the second consecutive year in 2018, a fact that is known by a handful of Bhatkal people.
Born and bought up in Bhatkal, Afzal developed interest in pets right from his childhood but shaped it into a career only after he completed his BBM from Bangalore University.
Bhatkallys.com visited his farm and interviewed him about his journey and know more about achievements.

Afzal while speaking to Bhatkallys.com said he has no formal training or any certification course in pigeon breeding and only understood it better after attending the pigeon show in Kerala in the year 2015, where he got in touch with judges and top-participants of the show which also included dignitaries and experts from foreign countries, and understood the norms and concept of pigeon breeding through them only to participate and win the show two-years later.
Afzal in the breeders circle is also known as Afzal Pigeon Lahore Loft, as he is specialist Lahori/ Shiraz breeding which are known for its beautiful color patterns.
Afzal has a variety of pigeon stocked at his farm and breeds several rare breeds of pigeons, which are a rarity across the country but is available at Afzal's farm.
Afzal bagged a total of six awards during 2018 pigeon show, Show champion, Grand champion, Grand champion, Grand champion, Reserve champion, Reserve champion, Reserve champion.
Earlier in 2017 at the same show, Afzal was also praised for his breeds development, skills and understanding of the whole concept.
Afzal says, pigeon breeding in itself is a wonderful business to invest into as it pays rich dividends if worked with dedication and hard work.
One of the pigeon at his farm as he claims is the only alive breed in India and no other breeder has that breed with them, while many other such breeds have now started to be available as he himself sells it to the breeders in Gujrat, Delhi, Haryana and Kerala.
This young man, now aims at participation at the international shows but himself acknowledges that it is a long way to go. "International shows' standards are very high for Indian breeders, we can't match them, but to be honest, its not boasting but a fact that I am the only candidate so far in India who can match up to those standards the soonest among all other breeders, and not only me other top breeders in the business too acknowledges this" Afzal added.
