Meet Nazim Khan of Kumta, who fought against all odds to become table tennis champion

Kumta 8 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) In a country where Cricket has an absolute majority in the hearts of people, and every child dreams of becoming the next Sachin Tendulkar of the country, their are examples of athletes who took the odd way out and against all odd succeeded in it, Nazim Khan of Kumta is one among those in the second category who selected Para Table Tennis and is outshining others in the category with his talent after representing Karnataka at National level and India at International level at several events. Nazim Khan, a native of Honmav locality of Kumta Taluka, is physically challenged having problem in the part of his Knee and limbs of the left leg, and has still managed to get him fame against all the odd and drawbacks with true sportsmanship. He has tasted success at several events at National and International events and yet his hunger for success is commendable, as he now aims to represent India at Paralympics. Apart from sports, Nazim has also accolades in academics as a student, he secured 93% aggregate marks in PU in Science and is currently studying MBBS at Karnataka Institute of Medical Science (KIMS). During is Pre-University days Nazim received training from Devanand Gaonkar who is a prominent table tennis coach in Kumta circles. However, he is currently the member of ‘Maharastra Mandal Table Tennis Academy’ and getting trained from Umesh, Abhishek, Vijay, and Dhanraj from the last three years. Some of his Achievements include Participation in International table tennis tour at Bankok in the year 2013, Beijing and Barcelona in the year 2017. he has also won gold medal at National level table tennis championship held at Bengaluru in the year 2012, and also secured bronze medal at national championship held at Bengaluru. Earlier this year, he once again won the Bronze medal at National championship held at Indore. Speaking of his schedule and dedication Nazim says he practices for over two hours hours everyday, and stress upon keeping himself fit.
