Bhatkal: "It is vital to understand the media in the present world. Today, we are disgraced everywhere because of our shortcomings and for not conveying the true message of Islam.", said Maulana Ilyas Nadvi (Head - Maulana Abul Hasan Academy Bhatkal) in the media session held on the 4th day of Tanzeem's centennial.
Media is not an invention of the present era as its existence can be traced even to the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of almighty Allaah be upon him), a mention of which can also be found in the Qur'an, he added.
Encouraging the media persons to promote truth through this medium, he said, "Media is such a powerful tool that a slight negligence could destroy the lives of thousands of people and a clever use of it can benefit thousands of individuals", citing the sayings of Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi (mercy of Allaah be upon him). In the end, Maulana Ilyas appreciated the efforts of Ajit Saahi (Editor - Tehelka) and also gave him an invitation to Islam.
Thereafter, Ajit Sahi addressed the audience and said that media today has become a puppet of the government because of which innocent lives are punished and news today are published selectively based on the wishes of the government. "Today I am fighting for the cause of justice, not for Muslims alone because of which I am considered a representative of a certain group of people," he added.
SM Syed Khaleelur Rehman welcomed the guests while Senior Journalist Aftab Kola (ex-Editor - Oman Times) gave a brief introduction of the guests. Renowed journalist from Bhatkal Muaz Shabandari (Editor - Khaleej Times) compered the session.
On the dais were present, Mohsin Shabandari (Founder President - Bhatkallys.com), Jailani Mohatisham, Iqbal Kola, SM Syed Khaleelur Rehman, Altaf Kharoori, Muzammil Kazia, Moulana Abdul Aleem Kasmi and others.
