May 6 to mark the beginning of Holy Ramadan in Bhatkal, Dakshina Kannada

Bhatkal: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Markazi Royat-e-Hilal Committee, Bhatkal on Sunday evening announced that Monday will mark the beginning of Holy month of Ramadan in Bhatkal, after reports of crescent moon sighting came from various nearby places and districts including Dakshina Kannada and Kerala. Monday, May 6 will mark the first day of holy month of Ramadan in Bhatkal. Earlier Qazi of Dakshina Kannada had also announced the sighting of moon marking Monday as the first month of Ramadan in the District. The holiest month of the Islamic calendar marks one month of fasting by Muslims across the month as it allows Muslims to devote themselves to their faith and come closer to Allah. Fasting is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, which form the basis of how Muslims live their lives. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
