Mastermind of Naushad Kashimji murder case arrested from West Africa; CM Kumaraswamy confirms

Mangaluru: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Fugitive underworld don and the main accused of Bhatkal’s Advocate Naushad Kashimji’s murder case in Mangaluru, Ravi Poojari, has been arrested from a salon in Dakar, capital of Senegal, West Africa by Senegal police. According to the sources Poojari had been living in Senegal with a changed name. He was staying in the West African country as ‘Antony Fernandes’ to get Burkina Faso passport. The Senegal police working on a tip-off from the Karnataka police who was tracking the fugitive don for several months, arrested Poojary from a salon. Poojary is wanted in more than 70 cases Karnataka including Murder and Extortions, while he also has cases registered against him in other states of the country. CM HD Kumaraswamy, confirmed the arrest and added that he will soon be handed over to the Karnataka police by Senegal police. “Ravi Poojary was arrested on January 19, by Senegal police in co-ordination with Karnataka police. The Senegal government has now ordered handing over of Poojary to Karnataka police” Kumaraswamy told reporters. “Days after I became CM, I held meeting with DG&IGP Neelmani Rajui and ADGP (Intelligence) Dr. Amar Kumar, their team were assigned the task of arresting the fugitive criminal” Kumaraswamy added. Team led by Dr. Amar Kumar started tracking Poojary, and found that he had changed his name to Antony Fernandes and had managed to acquire Burkina Faso passport for himself and other members of the family. After going off radar, the team once again traced Poojary in Senegal, the team immediately got in touch with Indian ambassador to Senegal Rajeev Kumar and nabbed Poojary. Poojary is the main accused in Mangaluru murder case of Advocate Naushad Kashimji of Bhatkal, who was shot dead outside his apartment in Mangaluru. Over 39 cases are registered against Poojary in Bengaluru city, 30 in Mangalkuru, 11 in Udupi and one case each in Mysuru, Hubballi, Dharwad, Kolar, Dakshina Kannada district and Shivamogga. Dr. Amar has now been ordered by CM to complete diplomatic formalities and get Ravi Poojary back to India soon. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
