Massive fire breaks out inside Haj Bhavan

Bengaluru: A major fire broke out at the new Haj Bhavan building on Thanisandra Main Road near Hegdenagar on Saturday evening. No casualties were reported.
The fire started in the assembly hall on the first floor around 5.10pm and spread to other parts of the building, police said. As many as 13 fire tenders were pressed into service, which were in action till night.
Short circuit is suspected to have triggered the fire, preliminary investigations revealed.
District fire officer Manjunath said around 15 workers were present on the second floor when smoke emanated from the assembly hall, which has a seating capacity of 900. The newly constructed Bhavan is a three-floor building. “The workers were fixing electrical equipment when they noticed thick smoke. Fortunately, all of them exited the building safely,” he said. tnn
