Honnavar: 20 August 2025 (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A delegation from Jamaatul-Muslimeen, Manki, met the Chief Officer of Manki Pattan Panchayat to submit a memorandum highlighting urgent civic issues affecting residents. During the meeting, the delegation emphasized the growing problem of stray dogs and lapses in garbage management, calling for immediate action to safeguard public health and safety.

Residents expressed concern over the increasing number of stray dogs in the town, warning that the animals pose a serious threat to pedestrians, especially schoolchildren. The delegation urged the Panchayat to take preventive measures to avoid any untoward incidents.

Garbage collection was another major issue raised. Delegation members criticized the suspension of door-to-door waste collection services over the past several months, which has left households struggling to dispose of wet and dry waste. They demanded the resumption of these services to prevent unhygienic conditions and potential health hazards.

The delegation also brought attention to the poor state of internal roads in several Nawayath colonies, including Basha Colony second cross, the lane near Mohiuddin Mosque, Saud Colony, and Usman Street. They noted that damaged roads had become inaccessible even for auto-rickshaws, causing difficulties for the elderly and patients. In addition, incomplete stormwater drains from Mavinkatte to Super Bazaar were clogged with garbage and silt, leading to rainwater entering homes.

Other concerns included the suspension of Aadhaar enrolment facilities at the local post office and the need for speed breakers on the main road to prevent accidents. Residents of Saud Colony also sought construction of proper roads and drainage channels to reduce flooding during rains.

Responding to the memorandum, Manki Town Panchayat Chief Officer Keshav Chougale assured the delegation that some works would be initiated immediately and that efforts would be made to secure government funding for larger projects.

The delegation was led by Jamaat President Kadpadi Habibullah and included General Secretary Hassan Bapu Hassan Bapa, Vice President Sauda Abu Muhammad, Madrasa Principal Mashima Muhammad Irfan, Treasurer Hajika Abdul Rashid, Madrasa President Maulana Shakeel Ahmed Sukri Nadvi, and several other community members and youth representatives
