Bhatkal 6 August 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Ex-MLA of Bhatkal-Honnavar constituency and Congressman Mankal S Vaidya is all set to make a comeback to the local political scenes after facing defeat by BJP candidate Sunil Naik in the Karnataka Assembly Elections earlier in May this year. Mankal Vaidya is now eyeing to contest the elections of Janata Bank, that are scheduled for August 19, the nomination filing process began yesterday and according to the sources in the bank, Mankal Vaidya has already filed his nomination on Sunday, the first day of filing the process. Mankal Vaidya, who contested the Karnataka Assembly Elections, riding high upon his 'development card' but ultimately fell victim to the Hindutva card that the BJP cashed on in the three coastal districts of Karnataka to win 18 out of 21 assembly seats. Mankal lost the elections to Sunil Naik who polled over 82,500 votes against Mankal's 77,ooo odd votes. Mankal Vaidya has earlier too served as the president of Janata Bank, before becoming the MLA of the constituency and went on to serve the post after becoming MLA as well. However, Mankal Vaidya kept himself away from public appearances after the elections and has since then been away from local news headlines, with him contesting the Janata bank elections, it will be interesting to see if he can announce his comeback in the local political scene with a win. With previous results and his tenure at the office, his win looks certainty unless his faith has something similar to the results of Karnataka Assembly Elections in store for him, only August 19 will decide.
