Mangaluru woman murdered, her mutilated body parts found in gunny bag

A 40-year-old woman was murdered and her body parts were found in a gunny bag near a shop off National Highway 66 near Kadri Park on Sunday.
According to the Mangaluru East police, the owner of a roadside fruit shop found the gunny bag and a helmet near his shop when he arrived in the morning. When the shopkeeper opened the bag, he found chopped parts of the body of a woman. Her severed head was found under the helmet.
According to Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil, the deceased, Srimathi Shetty, was a resident of Amar Alva Road in near Monkey Stand. In a communiqué, he said the preliminary inquiry has revealed details of some personal reasons behind the murder.
The police said Ms. Shetty ran a electrical shop in Pandeshwar. She was living separately from her husband, Sudeep, following her divorce. In fact, Sudeep has been lodged at Mangaluru District Prison for a week now in connection with a mobile theft case.
The police have collected CCTV footage that shows a person leaving the gunny bag and helmet near the shop in the early hours of Sunday. Three police teams have been formed to find the culprit.
