Mangaluru: Three security guards found dead after inhaling poisonous gas from generator

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ AJ Asadi Mangaluru 08 Nov 2017: Amidst the thunders and lightening rains in the city on the night of Nov 6, three security guards of a Bank were found dead in the bank premises on Tuesday morning. Initially people believed they might have died due to being struck by the lightening but now it is concluded that the three guards died after inhaling poisonous gas from generator resulting in suffocation. The deceased Security guards are identified as Umesh (60), a resident of KC Road, Somanath (58), a resident of Kolya and Santhosh (40) of Manjanady. The trio reported to the duty on Monday evening and as per the cctv footage the guards slept after switching on Generator to start fans, the room in which they were sleeping was reportedly packed without any window, the generator which exhale carbon monoxide, poisoned the air within the room and the guards never woke up that night. Police has ruled out presence of anybody else after examining the CCTV footage. On Tuesday, when the bank employees reported to the bank, the manager of the bank on finding the guards asleep, hurled water bucket on them, on not getting any response, the local police was informed.
