Mangaluru: police personnel attacked while raiding illegal cattle transport hub

Zaorez Shabab Puttur 18 Nov 2017: A team of Puttur town police officials was attacked on the wee hours of Thursday when the team was raiding an alleged illegal cattle transport hub in Puttur. SI. Ajay Kumar working on tip off from his sources, led an raid operation on a spot where the cattle were being loaded illegally to transport elsewhere. Upon raiding the culprits tried to attack the police team, and the officials were forced to fire in the air in a bid to stop the attackers. Upon a bullet being fired in the air, the culprits escaped the crime scene and the police was unable to chase them down. However 12 cattle which were illegally loaded in a goods tempo were rescued and were taken into the police's custody. Puttur police is working to identify the people involved and further investigations are underway.
