Mangaluru: Police arrest 3 Bajrang Dal activists for threatening Mithun Rai

Bantwal: Bantwal police on Monday arrested three Bajrang Dal activists for allegedly issuing a death threat to Mithun Rai, the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha elections from Dakshina Kannada. The arrested identified as Sachin (25) and Nishant (23), both residents of Bantwal and Karthik (30) a resident of Kasargod had allegedly on May 23 evening had abused Rai and had even threatened to behead him during Vijayotsava celebrations. A video of the trio abusing and threatening Rai, at a gathering organised to celebrate the victory of BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel in the Lok Sabha polls at Badakabail Junction here, had gone viral on social media. In his police complaint, Rai alleged that the activists violated the prohibitory orders under Section 144 by organising the gathering and issued death threat to him. A case was registered under sections 143,144,504,506,505(1)(C),153A, 149 of the IPC. Source: Udyavani
