Harikrishna Bantwal attended the adalat with his complaint against Ramanath Rai of illegally grabbing govt land on his wife's name. Justice Shetty, asked Bantwal about his motive behind addressing a press conference on the issue before bringing the issue to the notice of Lokayukta. He further questioned " In a Land grabbing case, the district administration too shall be party, including District commissioner and revenue department officials, but your complaint has no mention about any administrative official but only the minister." Harikrishna denied any political motive behind this and offered to provide evidence to the lokayukta for his claims. The lokayukta then registered his complaint.
