Mangaluru: Fake degrees' racket busted; One arrested Principal and Director of college absconding

Mangaluru: An employee of Mangalore Institute of Technological Sciences(MITS) was arrested by CCB police and a Principal and Director of Institutions are absconding in connection with issuing fake certificates of various courses in the premises on March 14, Wednesday.
The accused is identified as Godwin D'Souza(33), an employee of MITS.
According to police sources, MITS were engaged in selling out SSLC, PUC, degree, diploma and BTech Courses certificates and earned handsome amount. They charged around Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 for the purpose and the racket started long back in 2013 though institution started since 2016.
According to the sources, so far 150 students have availed these certificates from them. The police have recovered certificates issued by MITS along with the laptops, three fake seals printer and an iPhone from the accused.
The operation was led by CCB Inspector Shantaram, PSI Shyamsunder and Kabbal Raj Gurappa Kanthi and Mangaluru Police Personnel. Further Investigations are underway.
