Bhatkal 16 Nov 2017: Probing the Mangaluru Dy. SP MK Ganapathy's suicide case who allegedly shot himself in a private Vinayaka lodge on July 7 last year and had blamed state ministers for pressurizing him in a private TV channel's interview before killing himself, found one bullet while examining the room no. 315 of the lodge where he shot himself. The bullet was found inside his bed. It is alleged that Ganapathy had shot three bullets on his bed from his service revolver before killing himself.
CBI officer Thalaimani is leading the investigation and visited the Vinayaka Lodge on Tuesday morning with his Forensic team. The team then met the state police team who had earlier investigated the case and discussed the case facts, before meeting Dr. Shailaja who conducted the post-mortem of MK Ganapathy in Govt. Hospital.
The team also recorded statements of witnesses Beliappa, Jagan and Ganapathy's brother MK Machaiah and now plans to meet the officials of the private TV channel to whom Ganapathy gave the controversial statement.
Earlier on Sept. 05 this year the Supreme Court ordered a CBI investigation into the death of M K Ganapathy, saying there were “startling facts” in the case which needed to be probed in a fair manner.
“There are certain startling facts in the case. Whether it is murder or suicide, it is required to be investigated in a fair manner,” the bench comprising Justices A K Goel and U U Lalit had said allowing the appeal of M K Kushalapp, father of the deceased police officer, filed against the order of the Karnataka High Court rejecting his plea for CBI probe into the death case.
