Mangaluru: Bhaskar K elected new Mayor of the city, disappointment in Muslim camps as congress aimed for a Muslim candidate

Bhatkallys News Bureau/ Wafa Kifa Mangaluru 10 March 2018: Bhaskar K was elected the new Mayor of the city in the new body meeting held late evening on Thursday, March 8. However, Congress expressed their displeasure for the decision made to elect the Mayor since they hoped a Muslim candidate to uphold the post for the next term. Few of the legislators expressed their disappointment over the election of Mayor and termed the election wrong. Corporator, Abdul Rauf, who was a strong contender for the post of the mayor, said that he too was an aspirant for the post of the mayor along with Bhaskar, a three-time corporator. "Bhaskar is my friend, and I am not unhappy about his becoming the mayor. I have wished him well. Lady luck smiled on him this time," he stated.
