Mangalore - 17 July 2011: The KSRTC Mangalore division after successfully introducing Volvo B7R airconditioned services on Mangalore-Manipal and Mangalore -Kasargod routes, it has announced that it will run the same services between Mangalore-Bajpe airport.

This announcement comes a shot in the arm of the air passengers, they can travel in the comfort of air conditioned buses instead of the crammed and rickety private taxies or spend a fortune on fuel for the private vehicles.

The KSRTC Mangalore division has already received additional buses to launch the services and the trial run has taken place on 16 July without much ado.

According to the divisional controller of the KSRTC Mangalore division, the buses will run from the Bejai bus stand picking up passengers on the way at Kadri, KPT, Yeyyadi, Padavinangady, Bondel and Kavoor. "our objective is to give bus connectivity to each flight that departs and arrives at the Mangalore airport.

With the introduction of this service the hegemony over this route by the taxi operators and private bus lobby has been broken. They not only used to over charge the passengers but also behave rudely with them.

The rickety private taxis used to charge anywhere from RS. 350 to 400 to carry passengers to a distance of 22 kilometers and the local bus lobby was behaving rudely with the passengers and used to treat them with contempt. Many times when the air passengers wanted to take the local bus to their respective destinations they were not allowed to carry their luggage in the buses by those naughty conductors and cleaners resulting in insult of the passengers, if the passengers protested they used to abuse them and even manhandle them.

But all that is behind them now as they will be ushered into the air conditioned buses by the crew clad in white uniform and dropped at their destination with dignity.
