New Delhi: Angry over Baba Ramdev's remark that the 2008 Batla House shootout was not fake, a man threw black ink on the face of the yoga guru during his press conference here on Saturday.

Police present at the venue escorted Ramdev to a safer place, while the supporters bashed the accused black and blue.

The attacker has been identified as Kamran Siddiqui, a resident of Delhi who is said to be running an NGO named 'Real Cause'. He has been detained by police.

STAR News correspondent Saroj Singh spoke to the spiritual guru minutes after the incident. Ramdev was not moved by the incident that had sparked anger among his supporters. He said such incidents will not hamper his character and his mission.

The yoga guru said, "Whoever has fought for the truth had paid for it. We have demanded black money stashed in the foreign banks and announced it has national wealth. We also demanded to stop the corruption in the country. By throwing ink on me my character will not change."

Police informed the media that the accused is Kamran Siddiqui, who runs an NGO under the name of 'Real Cause' at Batla and he is a resident of Jamia Nagar.

Earlier, addressing the media Ramdev announced that he would take out 'Bharat Swabhimaan Yatra' in the five poll bound states. He also said that main agenda of his yatra will be black money. Once again Ramdev demanded government to bring back the black money stashed in the foreign banks.

Ramdev's spokesperson said that walkie-talkie and acid bottles were recovered from the person.

Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi condemned the incident. He said, "The incident is unfortunate and I condemn such incident."
