Man dupes job seekers of lakhs of rupees promising employments

Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Police arrested a person accused of duping lakhs of rupees from job seekers by promising them lucrative employment opportunity overseas.
The arrested, Ravindra Shetty heads the Western Associate Institution located in Kerala Samaj building on KS Rao Road in the city.
The complainant Suman V, resident of Kallige Mundaje of Bantwal Taluk is among the several people who fell for this fraud.
Reportedly, Ravindra had published an advertisement regarding an employment opportunity available at Licoln Royal Cross Ship. After reading the advertisement, Suman had inquired about the job with Ravindra. She was asked to pay Rs 6000 towards medical test and others expenses to get employment opportunity. Upon making the payment Suman was asked to undertake a test being conducted at a private college on June 10, in 2017. Here too, Ravindra asked to her pay Rs 15,356 and later again he collected Rs 38,000 on results day. Suman was then asked to go to Bengaluru for confirmation of her job where was once more asked to pay Rs 38000.
Suman was awaiting her employment visa as assured by Ravindra Shetty. But when there was no sign of the visa or any reply from Ravindra she finally filed a complaint in Bunder police station.
