Makkah: Timely intervention of Indian consul general saves the day for 15 year old who was detained while performing Tawaf

Makkah 02 May 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A 15 year old boy from Tirur, Kerala who was visiting the kingdom for Umrah pilgrimage was detained by the local police from the Holy mosque after he was misunderstood to be a pickpocket. The boy has been identified as Cholayil Madhi Rahman of Tirur Kerala, and was on Umrah visit with his parents. According to the reports he was detained while performing Tawaf in Makkah as he was misunderstood to be pickpocket while he was actually trying to stop someone who was attempting pick pocketing. As soon as the matter was reported to the Consulate, Consul General Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh immediately deployed his staff to locate the boy, he was subsequently found detained at Taif juvenile centre. The Consulate immediately requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Judge (handling the case) for his immediate release, and based on the consulate's request, the boy was released and left for India yesterday with his parents. The quick response from the consul general Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh made sure the boy was united with his parents swiftly. The parents thanked the consul general and his staff for their co-operation and timely intervention to save the day for them. (Bhatkallys News Bureau)
