Major Accident on Shaikh Zayed Road

Dubai - 14 June 2011: A number of students and labourers were injured in a traffic accident at Shaikh Zayed Road opposite the American University in Dubai around 7:30 am.

The accident occurred after a school bus with 30-50 pupils collided with a mini bus carrying staff from a Jebel Ali Free Zone-based company.

Two students and five staff on the mini-bus sustained minor injuries and were transported to hospital by police ambulance.

Police and rescue officials rushed to the site on learning of the accident. The rescue team used hydraulic cutters to rescue the driver of the school bus who was trapped in his cabin as well as the labourers trapped in the mini bus.

There is still no confirmation on the total number of injured.
