New Delhi - 15 Sep 2011 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday said madrassas require upgradation and the minority communities should make the most of the right to education.

"The madrassas need to be upgraded further... the minority communities will have to rise to the occasion to benefit from government's schemes, like the right to education," said Dikshit, as she inaugurated a day-long national dissemination workshop on minority education here.

"The government has been reiterating that there will be no dearth of funds for expansion of education programmes in minority-dominated districts and other backward areas," said Dikshit, exhorting the minorities to move towards modern education.

The workshop is being organised by Minority Education for Growth and Advancement - Skill for Youth - a project supported by USAID and being implemented by NGOs.
