Local bodies step-in to support Anjuman centenary rally; Cricket matches called off, businesses expected to remain closed on Jan 3

Bhatkal 31 December 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Bhatkal is gearing up for the grand beginning to the centenary celebrations of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen, an educational institution that has now been serving people by rendering educational services for 100 years.
The centenary celebrations will kick start officially on January 3, afternoon 2.pm, when the officials, students and locals will lead a rally from Anjumanabad, passing through various parts of the town before dispersing at the Anjuman Ground near old bus stand here. The rally is aimed to highlight the achievements, aims and services of Anjuman.
The January 3, rally will be followed up by a grand inaugural event on January 5, at Anjumanabad which is expected to be attended by Karnataka CM, HD Kumaraswamy, and other prominent leaders including RV Deshpande, UT Abdul Khader, Zamir Ahmed Khan, Mankal Vaidya, apart from Bhatkal MLA Sunil Naik and senior BJP leader of the region Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri among others.
January 6, will see the organisation, holding an exclusive event for ladies at the same venue at Anjumanabad, followed by a cultural event by Nawayath Mehfil on 6th night.
Amidst all the preparations from the organisers, several local bodies have come forward to lend support to the organisers, especially on January 3, for the rally.
It started with the cricket tournament 'Nawayath trophy' which will begin from January 1, had no fixtures for January 3 and their tournament fixtures showing 'No Match' on Saturday afternoon to support Anjuman. The organiser Labbaik Nawayath Association later clarified that to encourage people from joining rally and not disturb the schedule, they had decided to not host any match on Thursday afternoon.
Later, the newly formed Merchant's Association also decided to keep their businesses shut to support the cause. One of the member of the association, while speaking to Bhatkallys.com added "We decided to keep our businesses closed on Thursday afternoon between 2.pm - 6.pm to support the rally, after receiving a request from Anjuman. We immediately accepted it, it is our institution and we will actively take part in the rally".
So one can expect people in large numbers to turn up for the rally, while all the major business in the downtown and marketplace will also be expected to be remain closed on Thursday afternoon between 2.pm - 6.pm
