Large-scale theft reported at Jaali Road; burglars loot cash, gold from house

June 17, 2016 | Rizwan Gangavaly | Bhatkallys News Bhatkal: The incidents of thefts continue to haunt residents of Bhatkal as robbers now are boldly carrying out thefts in Bhatkal. In a fresh incident, unidentified burglars made away with Rs 5,00,000/- cash and gold worth more than 25 lakhs of rupees from an empty house at Jaali Road Thursday evening. The burglary occurred in SM Syed Mohammed Farooque Ambari’s house. A source informed that the inmates of the house left in the evening to attend Taraweeh (late night) prayers but when they returned after the prayers they found all the house hold items scattered and golden ornaments worth more than 25 lakhs and cash worth Rs 5,00,000/- missing from the locker. The incident came to light when the family members spotted open door  lock when they returned home and found house hold items scattered throughout the place. Family members said that the thieves must be known persons as the door lock was found open in front of the door. Upon receiving information, CPI Prashant Naik and his team reached the site of incident and carried out preliminary investigations. However, they haven't got any clue on the burglars as of yet. Notably, the house is not very far off from Suburban police station situated at Jaali Road in Bhatkal. In the recent past too, many incidents of theft have occurred and have still remained unsolved. It has become extremely vital now that the police department show belligerence in nabbing the culprits so that residents of Bhatkal can breathe a sigh of relief. - ARF
