Kundapur woman cooks 'Bhatkal Khichadi' at Bengaluru Food Festival; wins the competition

Bhatkal/Bengaluru 19 January 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A woman from Kundapur Taluka of Udupi district, about 70 kms from Bhatkal, participated in the Bengaluru Food Festival and bagged first place in the event, the event was organised by Vijaya Karnataka and Double Horse Food Company in a joint venture in Bengaluru on January 1.
Sabeena Iqbal, a woman who hails from Kundapura and is residing in Bengaluru with her husband for last 12 years cooked one of the most famous dish of the Bhatkal town named 'Khichadi' which secured her the first prize in the event.
The event which was organised at Hotel Shangri-La on Palace road in the garden city, had over 160 participants from various parts of the state of which Sabeena with her 'Bhatkal style Khichadi' emerged victorious in the competition.
Speaking to Bhatkallys.com over a phone call Sabeena added that she was always keen of cooking and was touted to be a fine cook by her family members.
"We got to know about the competition through newspaper and I just decided to participate, not knowing that there will be so many participants and that the event will be as grand as it was" Sabeena told Bhatkallys.com
"There were about 160 participants and I cooked 'Khichadi' in Bhatkal style, and I bagged the first place, it was a wonderful feeling to win the competition amidst so many participants" Sabeena further added.
Sabeena also credited her success to her husband who she said always has been supportive in whatever she does.
