Kundapur: Goods truck run over four-year old, who was returning from temple on his birthday*

Kundapur 3 February, 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A four year old boy died on the spot after being run down by a goods lorry reportedly on his fourth birthday when he was returning from temple with his family, on Saturday, February 2.
The deceased has been identified as Anshik, who was attending Anganwadi pre-schooling.
Hailing from Konandoor Kontehole, in Thirthahalli Taluka, of Shivamoga district, Anshik was in Kundapur with his family who were attending a wedding of relatives.
To mark his fourth birthday, Anshik’s family took him to a local temple to seek blessings, while returning from the temple on the bus arranged to transport the guest of wedding, Anshik’s family alighted bus near Janata colony of Kundapur Taluka to visit another relatives’ home.
As Anshik along with his family was waiting to cross the road near Janata colony, a goods truck carrying food grains ran over Anshik who was standing on roadside.
As a result, the four year old died on the spot, leaving his family and witnesses in a state of shock.
Locals soon alerted police at Shankarnarayana police station who visited the spot and took the driver and his truck into detenion.
The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
