Kundapur: Four calves being illegally transported in car rescued

Kundapur: Kundapur police on Monday rescued four calves that were being transported illegally in a Maruti Omni vehicle at Hemmady in the taluk on national highway 66. On January 7, Kundapura PSI Ramesh Pawar and his team were inspecting vehicles at Hemmadi junction and had signalled the Omni vehicle to stop. Instead of stopping the car, its driver speeded away where after the police gave it a chase. The miscreants later abandoned the car at Santosh Nagar near Hemmady here and fled the spot. The police rescued the calves, that had been bound with nylon ropes and confiscated the vehicle. A case has been registered. Source: Udayavani
