Kumta: Woman dies in bike-truck accident

Kumta: A woman died in a tragic road accident at NH-66 near Kumta’s Muroor cross here on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Swati Kemaram Devasi, a resident of Chikodi in Belgaum District. As per the sources, when Swati was riding pillion on the bike, she got hit by a speeding truck, as the result, Swati’s head was crushed as the truck ran over her killing her on the spot. Swati’s husband who was riding the bike has sustained minor injuries in the accident. Source further added, Swathi, who was working as a cook at Kaiga Power Plant,was currently residing in Kumta along with her husband for a medical check-up when the accident took place. A case has been registered at Kumta police station.
