Know how many RTE applications Bhatkal BEO received this year, and other details

Bhatkal 9 July 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The government of India in 2009 led by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inserted Right To Education in the constitution of India enabling lakhs of students in the age group of six to fourteen years to get admitted into schools, for free and compulsory education under Article 21-A, means that every child has a right to full time elementary education of satisfactory and equitable quality in a formal school which satisfies certain essential norms and standards. The act clearly specify that no child attending school upon RTE application shall be liable to pay any fees for the education, the act was further amended to also include private schools into it, wherein 25% quota of the total strength was reserved to the RTE applicants from whom the school authorities shall not charge any fees but to get it from government. Every year the number of application are allotted to each Block of Education depending upon certain parameters, for the academic year 2018-19 the Bhatkal block was allotted 306 application cap meaning 306 students from Bhatkal block could avail the free education from private schools. Of 306 allotted seats 297 applications were received by the BEO (Block education officer) office, of which 57 were rejected and 240 were approved making a total of 66 seats unfilled from the allotted 306. "The rejection of the applications were mainly due to the applications not falling under the categories and some of them not meeting certain criteria and parameters set by the government for the applications" an official from BEO's office informed Bhatkallys.com. "The admissions of the selected 240 students have been processed already" the official further added. When asked about if the 66 unfilled seats are still up for the grabs, she added "No, its too late now and the last date set by the government for receiving RTE applications was in mid-June, and now it is not possible to apply for it".
