BELAGAVI: Two kids, aged four and two, died of suffocation on Thursday after they accidently switched on central locking system of their father's car and got trapped inside the vehicle at Madigunji in Karnataka's Khanapur taluk. The two were identified as Prem and Pritam. Their sister, Prithvi, 5, who was playing with them, survived as she had left the car, parked outside their home just before they got locked. The boys shouted for help from within the car, but no one noticed or heard their cries. A little later, when their family noticed Prem and Pritam lying unconscious in the car, they rushed the boys to Khanapur hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Doctors said the boys got suffocated due to heat and lack of oxygen in the locked vehicle. In August last year, four children died in a similar way in Thoothukodi district of Tamil Nadu after they accidently got stuck in an abandoned car. -TOI
