Khalifa awards Order of the Zayed on the National Day

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said the achievements of the UAE had been triggered by the perseverance of the distinguished men and women who shouldered the responsibility to build the country and preserve it interests.
Shaikh Khalifa added that they were inspired by “the Spirit of the Union” to put the UAE on the world map.
Shaikh Khalifa made the remarks on Sunday at Diyafa Palace in Al Mushrif, while honouring the winners of the President Merit Award 2012 in its second year.
Shaikh Khalifa honoured His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces was also present.
The President appreciated the role of achievers in many spheres that led the UAE to prosperity.
Shaikh Khalifa added that their achievements reflect the self denial and love for this great country. Shaikh Khalifa said the winners’ efforts complement the role of the Union founders.

“It is our duty to appreciate the deeds of those who exert utmost efforts for this dear country,” he said.
The President said the President Merit Award is meant to honour and elevate the winners for their achievements for the country.
Shaikh Khalifa, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid and Shaikh Sultan received the congratulations from the members of the Board of Trustees of the Award, on the occasion of the UAE’s 41st National Day anniversary.
The honoured included: Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid in the category of the distinguished development initiatives and community service. Shaikh Mohammad received the Order of the Zayed, while Shaikh Sultan also received the Order of the Zayed in recognition of his role in culture and art.
Then the Vice-President presented the two original pens used in the signing of the Union as memento gifts.
“We must appreciate and respect everyone who works with faithfulness and dedication — those who make precious sacrifices for the sake of the nation, its security and dignity,” the President said.
He stressed that honouring such notable figures is meant to recognise loyal citizens for their rich contribution to the country’s development as the people of the UAE celebrate the 41st National Day.
Shaikh Khalifa presented the appreciation awards to nine national personalities who contributed to various national achievements and helped make the UAE a great paradigm among nations”.
The list of winners also include the late Musbeh Al Kindi Ali Bu Melha Al Marar, Mijrin Mohammad Ahmad Al Kindi Al Marar, Dr Jameela Salem Humaid Al Suwaidi, Abdullah Sultan Al Aryani, Hamad Suhaid Al Khaili, Ebrahim Mohammad Bu Melha, and Abdullah Mohammad Al Falasi.
Shaikh Mohammad expressed his appreciation and thanks to Shaikh Khalifa for the prestigious honour which he described as a generous gesture by the leader of the Union and pledged to continue to contribute to the march of excellence and achievements and to further make momentous sacrifices so that the UAE and its sincere people would rise among other nations in the world.
Dr Shaikh Sultan said “the honour by Shaikh Khalifa is an entrustment to continue the path under the wise leadership and embrace the same approach adopted by the founder and architect of the UAE’s prosperity — the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Shaikh Sultan promised that the UAE would remain an optimal model of solidarity and national loyalty.
