Kerala to receive heavy showers in the next 48 hrs, yellow warning in 3 districts

Kerala is likely to receive heavy rains in the next 48 hours. According to data from the Meteorological department, a low-pressure area that is forming in the equatorial Indian Ocean and Southwest Arabian Sea will cause the rains. The low pressure is likely to result in squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 kilometres per hour and gusting to 60 kilometres per hour in the southwest Arabian Sea.

A warning has also been issued to fishermen not to venture out into the seas. The IMD has also issued a yellow warning to Ernakulam, Idukki and Malappuram districts on Sunday. A yellow warning had been issued to Kollam on Saturday.

According to reports, the showers are also likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Warnings have been issued to people living near the coast to not use electrical and electronic devices. According to Skymet Weather, over a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Thiruvananthapuram recorded 22 mm of rains, followed by Kozhikode 12 mm, Kottayam 7 mm, Thrissur 7 mm and Karipur 7 mm.
