Keerthi Yallappa Hukkeri to represent India at World Roller Hockey Championship

Karwar: Keerthi Yallappa Hukkeri, who had been undergoing rigorous training in roller hockey under the Kaiga Skating Roller Club from the past eight years, is now the first female from the state representing Indian Women’s’ Roller Hockey team at the international level. Dilip Hanabar, who is the trainer of Keerthi said that she would be representing team India at the World Roller Hockey Championship, which would be played in Barcelona, Spain. “Three from the Kaiga Skating Roller Club had participated in the qualifier which was held at Nandurbar district of Maharashtra. Keerthi, who studies in Kendriya Vidyalaya was selected”, said Dilip. He also said that Keerthi had participated consecutively four times at the national-level roller hockey skating. “Second round of training will be held at Chandigarh on June 10, after which she will be taking part in the training session at Barcelona from June 27 to July 4. From there on she will be representing India in the world championship”, Dilip said. Source: News Karnataka
