Karwar: Leopard found dead on railway tracks; accident suspected

Karwar 29 June 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) A young leopard was found dead on the railway tracks, a few miles from the Castle Rock junction of Uttara Kannada district, near the Goa border here on Thursday, 29 June.
The lifeless predator was first noticed by track-man on his regular patrolling, who noticed the dead leopard with severe head injuries laying on the railway track on Thursday.
The higher officials were immediately informed about the big cat, and the Forest department too was in the loop soon.
Initial visuals made the forest officials to term it an accidental death, "The leopard might have come under a train maybe when he was crossing the railway lines" said officials.
The Forest department burried the big cat after post-mortem.
