Karwar Girl creates National record in Shot-put

Karwar - 28 Jan 2012: Nivedita Prashant Sawant, class 8 student of St. Michel Convent School, Karwar, has created a national record in shot-put in the under 17 age group by throwing 10.16 m.
Nivedita emerged as the highest scorer in the 57th national-level athletics competition. It was held by the School Games Federation of India at Shri Gurunanak Stadium in Ludhiana.
She won a bronze medal in discus throw. She was the all-rounder in State-level competition held in Udupi this year. Nivedita has won two gold, six silver, and one bronze medals in the national-level games.
She is the daughter of Prashant Sawant and Shailaja. She thanked her parents, coach Prakash Revankar, and headmistress of her school Vaila Delima for supporting her.
