Karwar: Excise officials arrests one for illegally transporting liquor worth 1.5 lac

Karwar 14 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The excise officials of Karwar on Wednesday arrested a man and seized alcohol worth Rupees.1.5 lac after chasing his vehicle for about 15 k.m on National Highway of Karwar. The accused has been identified as Yogesh, a redsident of Majali of Karwar. Based on a tip-off the excise officials on Wednesday around 3:45 am tried to stop the car carrying alcohol at Karwar-Goa border. However, as the car didn’t stop the excise officials chased it for about 15 km on the National highway of Karwar. Due to over-speeding the car lost its control and fell into a pit and thus the accused was caught hold by the officials. The officials also seized alcohol worth Rupees 1.5 lac and a car worth Rs.3 lac. The excise official Satyanarayana Trivedi and his team were involved in this operation.
