Karwar defeats Bhatkal to win Media Cup 2013

Bhatkal – 24 Jan 2013: Karwar team defeated Team Bhatkal to win Media Cup Cricket Tournament which was held here at Mahaladevi Stadium in Karwar. The 2 day tournament saw people associated with different media groups coming together to represent their taluks. Batting first in the final, Karwar team scored 108 in their allotted 15 overs. In reply, Bhatkal team managed to get only 86 runs losing all their wickets. Karwar team received trophy and a cash reward of Rs 15,000/- while the runner up Bhatkal team got Rs 10,000 and a trophy. The Best Batsman award won by Bhatkal’s Mohammed Shahind. Mr Shiv Kumar of Karwar received Best Bowler award. Mr Nitin Ankolekar adjudged player of the tournament while Karwar’s Nagraj Ankolekar received special award for scoring 58 runs in the finals. On this occasion Mr Hiregothi – Editor Karavali Munjao, Mr Ganapati Mangre, Mr Surendra Naik, Mr J D Palekar, Mr Ratnakar Naik – City Municipal Councilor, Congress leader Mr Satish Sail and others were present.
